of Jurisdictional Conference

The Bishops of the North Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church called a Special Session of the jurisdictional conference to meet in virtual session on January 23, 2024.
The Book of Discipline requires that the business of a called special session be published prior to the start of the conference. It is only that business that can be brought before the conference.
Two motions came before the conference:
MOTION 1 – The North Central Jurisdiction form a new episcopal area composed of the Northern Illinois Conference and the Wisconsin Conference effective September 1, 2024.
The results of the vote on this motion:
Yes: 123 No: 5
MOTION 2 – The North Central Jurisdiction form a new episcopal area composed of the East Ohio Conference and the West Ohio Conference effective September 1, 2024.
The results of the vote on this motion:
Yes: 121 No: 6
Proposed names for the new episcopal areas will be presented for vote during the regular session of the North Central Jurisdictional Conference July 10-13, 2024 in Sioux Falls, SD
Two new episcopal areas to be formed in UMC North Central Jurisdiction;
No episcopal elections anticipated to be held in July 2024

United Methodist Volunteers In Mission – North Central Jurisdiction (UMVIM-NCJ) supports efforts by individuals and teams of volunteers within the NCJ who are invited by and work with the local host United Methodist Church or affiliated agency to bring Christ’s healing to situations of need.
United Women in Faith
A community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
