As winter approaches the upper Midwest it hard for us to believe that Malaria causing mosquitoes are still a problem in much of the world. This week in Cote d'Ivoire more than 1,000,000 bed nets were delivered by the people of The United Methodist Church. Video of this amazing delivery can be see on Facebook (Click Here)
Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly challenged his readers to donate $10 for the purchase of an anti-malaria bed net, and thousands of people have joined the campaign. The people of The United Methodist Church, along with Sports Illustrated, NBA Cares, the United Nations Foundation and several other groups, are raising funds to purchase bed nets to end malaria. You can join the cause and contribute money for bed nets that will keep children and families safe. (UMC.org)
The Indiana Area received more than $100,000 in the Nothing But Nets campaign. More than 85 percent of the nets being distributed were funded through the Nothing But Nets campaign, which the people of The United Methodist Church have enthusiastically supported over the past two years.
You can help. A ten dollar donation will provide one net, delivery and education. One net often serves more than one child. You net could save several lives.
